Sky Deutschland to Offer Sky+ HD 3D

German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland will introduce a new generation of HD digital recorders with extended service and comfort functions. With Sky+ subscribers will be able to watch movies and series at any time through the inbuilt hard-disk, independent of TV programme schedules.

The box, which is based on the XTV system developed by technology company NDS, can store up to 25 films in HD quality or 50 films in conventional resolution for individual access. The new Sky+ HD recorders are also already prepared for future Sky offers in 3D.

With the move, the pay-TV broadcaster expands its collaboration with NDS. Sky Deutschland already uses encryption system VideoGuard, set-top-box middleware MediaHighway and an electronic programme guide from NDS.
