Astra’s 3D Channel Goes Live
Satellite operator SES Astra has launched its 3D channel at the opening of cable, satellite and broadband trade fair ANGA Cable in Cologne on May 4. The service, which broadcasts 3D content from the areas of sports, music and entertainment, can be received free-to-air on Astra 1E (23.5° East) on the frequency 11,778 GHz V (SR 27,500, FEC 9/10).
As soon as Astra 3B has been taken into service, the 3D channel will move to the new satellite. The offer mainly targets dealers who can use it to showcase 3D-TV live to customers in their local shops. Individual DTH households equipped with a 3D-TV set and 3D glasses can also receive the service. 3D-TV sets have recently become available in shops.
