Kinowelt TV Plans 3D Offer

German pay-TV channel Kinowelt TV is preparing a 3D offer. “We are 3D-ready,” managing director Achim Apell told trade newsletter Blickpunkt Film. “We want to show on television what’s successful in cinemas: 3D movies.”

Kinowelt TV is not planning to set up a spin-off channel for three-dimensional productions, but instead wants to screen 3D movies as special events on its main channel. Talks are underway with platform operators and hardware companies regarding the 3D offer.

Kinowelt TV is available via cable, satellite and IPTV in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The channel, which targets movie buffs, has more than 2 million subscribers.
