Portugal Telecom Upgrades User Interface for Meo
Portugal Telecom has launched a new advertising campaign promoting the introduction of a new user interface and functionalities for its pay-TV service 'Meo' (delivered via IPTV and satellite), with adverts to be broadcast in 3D.
The telco plans to introduce a "significant upgrade" to Meo's user interface shortly, with the new design intended to make the service easier and more intuitive to use. New features being added to the service include the ability for multiroom recording and playback, whereby users can watch programmes recorded on any meobox within the home.
To promote the upgrades, Portugal Telecom is running adverts on the channels RTP, SIC and TVI, broadcast in 3D, with 3D-capable glasses being given away in street promotions. The telco is also running the adverts on 3D-capable televisions in public places within Lisbon and Porto.
Portugal Telecom had reached 505,000 subscribers for Meo by the end of the third quarter of 2009, having added 193,000 customers in the first nine months of year.
