Zecotek Achieves Breakthrough Performance with 3D2D Display System
Zecotek Photonics announced the latest performance parameters of its 3D2D Display System and that the company is preparing for negotiations with selected OEMs. The enhancements to the 3D technology include significant improvements in overall clarity, increasing concurrent perspectives twofold (from 40 to 80) and increasing the effective 3D viewing angle from 25 to 40 degrees. Other technical achievements include the development of a new, more compact, highly stable and noise free electro-mechanical module as well as the integration of new, high-power, colour LEDs which enhance viewing in ambient light. The company had deferred negotiations with identified strategic manufacturing partners, in order to strengthen its various IP positions. Having achieved a new level of performance, management is now preparing to demonstrate the upgraded version of its unique 3D display to potential partners in December 2008.
To fully protect this novel 3D technology Zecotek has filed patent applications in a number of jurisdictions. In April 2008, Zecotek was granted acceptance by the Australian Commissioner of Patents, Patent Number 2006200812, for its Real-Time 3D2D Display System technology. Anteryon BV of the Netherlands manufactures the key screen component of the 3D display.
Zecotek's Real-Time 3D2D Display System is a novel display system for images and data representing a new generation of 3D displays. Based on the auto-stereoscopic principle but with substantial innovative improvements, it is aimed at meeting performance criteria for both mass market and professional desktop use. The technology's design provides for multi-user, multi-view with freedom of movement, 3D and 2D simultaneously with high resolution (1024x768) in both 3D and 2D mode, dynamic range in 2D mode, and importantly compatibility with existing applications. The display also has a unique programmable ability to change its parameters "on-the-fly" to enhance the viewing experience for the particular content and/or viewing conditions. With a significant number of views, Zecotek's system redefines the term "auto-stereoscopic" display by providing simultaneous and continuous 3D depth perception for multiple viewers.
