QuVIS Advances Digital Cinema with QuVIS Cinema Player 4

QuVIS, a Digital Cinema leader since 1999, is now offering the 4th generation of playback excellence with the QuVIS Cinema Player 4 (QCP4). The QCP4 is an industry compliant Digital Cinema playback server that delivers the functionality and security needed in today’s theatrical environments. The QCP4’s new secure chassis is designed to exceed current physical security requirements and provides protection against the need to replace installed servers in order to comply with future physical security requirements.

The QuVIS Cinema Player 4 supports all current security requirements including: Content Decryption, Key Delivery Message (KDM), Secure Link Encryption, Forensic Watermarking, Secure Logging and Reporting, and even Physical Security with tamper detection and electronic intrusion monitoring. The QCP4’s secure chassis prevents external probing of internal circuitry and provides a protective barrier for critical security systems and data.

“The new FIPS secure chassis design, combined with existing security features such as Thomson NexGuard forensic marking technology and secure link encryption, provides a comprehensive content security solution for Digital Cinema,” said Michael Paulson, QuVIS COO. “To maintain compliance with future security requirements the QuVIS Cinema Player 4 should require nothing more than the occasional software update. A simple software update is certainly more desirable than the wholesale replacement of non-compliant servers.”

The QuVIS Cinema Player 4 fully supports DCI compliant Digital Cinema Packages (DCP) used for 2D and 3D JPEG2000 content distribution. In addition to supporting both JPEG2000 and QPE compression technologies it also supports more than 80 SD, HD, 2K, 3D, and 4K video formats. The QCP4 supports seamless real-time 2K extraction of 4K Digital Cinema content and 2D played as 3D that allows viewers to wear 3D glasses throughout an entire show sequence that includes a 3D feature.

The QuVIS Cinema Player 4 can be deployed as a stand-alone server for single-screen environments or as part of a theatrical multi-screen network. Digital Cinema content can be loaded using native USB ports or via high-speed Gigabit network ports using centralized content distribution methods. The QCP4 integrates natively with QuVIS QuShow, a comprehensive Show Management System, and can be easily integrated with other Theater Management Systems using the QuVIS network API.

The QuVIS Cinema Player 4, the industries only 4th generation Digital Cinema server, offers not only compatibility with today’s Digital Cinema requirements but also future requirements with new product features that include: optional server-based subtitling engine (QuVIS TitleMaster), native 16-channel analog or digital 96kHz audio support, and the new FIPS secure chassis design. The QCP4 is the Digital Cinema server that you have been waiting 4.
