Kyrion Tape to File

Ateme has launched its new Kyrion Tape to File system, the KTF 7100. Designed for the post market, it shares the same high quality H.264 encoding engine as used by the Kyrion File Encoder. The KTF 7100 works with all professional video tape decks and can be used for providing Dailies and VoD content compatible with set-top boxes.

Fitting in a single 1RU rack module, it includes embedded storage (160 GB), 2 Ethernet ports, 1 USB port and a SDI video/audio connection, and is ideal for anyone looking to quickly ingest video tapes and Blu-ray discs into a file-based system. The KTF 7100 supports SD or HD video from QCIF to 1080p in PAL and NTSC. It features real-time quality monitoring and a built-in web based configuration tool. Add in the Kyrion File Encoder (KFE 2.0), and you have what the company bills as a complete solution for building a file-based workflow.

The company is also releasing its third generation MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 encoding engine, which now features even greater bandwidth efficiency - up to 30% gain - when compared to the previous generation while providing the very same level of picture quality. It also includes support for the 4:2:2 profile, higher bitrates and ultra low latency at below 500 milliseconds.
