TF1 3D Channel Partners with 5 Operators

TF1 has signed a partnership with five operators to broadcast its new TF1 3D channel. The channel is to be carried on Bouygues Telecom, Canalsat, Fransat, Free and Orange and arrives in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off on Friday.

This events-based 3D channel will be available to subscribers equipped with the latest-generation routers of the HD operators and who will be able to watch five matches in exclusive live broadcasts. They must also have a 3D-capable TV.

Content will include the opening match between South Africa and Mexico, the best semi-final encounter, and the final, together with the highest-profile matches in the round of 16 and quarterfinals. Bouygues Telecom will broadcast the semi-final on July 7 to FTTH Bbox customers already selected within the framework of a pre-commercial phase.

From TF1’s point of view, the simultaneous live broadcasts of TF1 3D on fibre, satellite and IPTV networks are “a world first”.
