First 3D HDTV Transmissions on DTT in the World
Spain's Fifth Pro TDT Congress yesterday experienced what it claimed were the world's first 3D HDTV transmissions via digital-terrestrial TV in the southern capital of Seville. Organized by the Association of Electronic and Telecommunication Industries, ASIMELEC, the country's main TV signal distributor Abertis Telecom provided the signal for this test in which Eutelsat, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Gigaset also took part.
Bernardo Lorenzo, general director for Telecommunications at the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce highlighted that seven out of ten Spanish citizens value positively the DTT process "which by the way has the consensus of all the sectors involved," he said.
As for future goals he underlined developing HDTV, interactive TV, 3D TV and the fourth generation of mobile phones. "We've been leaders on DTT so we also must be leaders in the future technological transitions," he added.
Martín Pérez, ASIMELEC's president, claimed Information Technology and Communications should get more government support "because this is an important sector in our economy and the society in general," he said.
