Capcom 'Prepared to Start' 3D Game Research
Capcom has said that while it is technically able to create 3D video games, the decision to add 3D to its games will be made from a "strategic perspective". Asked about its plans regarding 3D home video games during a Q3 Q&A conference call, Capcom said:
"We can produce 3D games now from a technological standpoint. Although we are prepared to start research involving some titles, our decision about adding 3D to games will be made from a strategic perspective."
Capcom has already dabbled with 3D in the home, releasing Resident Evil 5 on PC with support for Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision technology. 3D is expected to become more widespread in the home this year: Sony plans to release updates for its PS3 making the console compatible with 3D movies and games, while Sky will roll-out a 3D television channel this autumn.
