MikroM Adds Full Subtitling Support to its Media Block
MikroM has added support for subtitle rendering into its Media Block solution called MVC200-DC. The subtitle feature incorporates support for both the CineCanvas and the SMPTE format as well as an extension for 3D subtitles.
A subtitle engine within the Media Block renders subtitle overlays based on timed text and font information, which then (alike png subtitle) are superimposed to the image. The SMS application just provides the encrypted subtitle essence data and the MVC200-DC performs all necessary subsequent operations.
Both subtitle formats are supported, CineCanvas and SMPTE. This allows content and server provider to migrate to SMPTE subtitle already now and independent from the capabilities of the projector. General support for 3D subtitle has been added as well, allowing individual rendering of overlays for left and right image.
Subtitling is one of the last features being added to the MVC200-DC, indicating finalization of the implementation work, since the FIPS certification process requires code-freeze of the firmware. Customers will receive a firmware update automatically after it has passed the internal QA process.
