Hamlet Adds Digital Intermediate Capabilities to Test Suites

Hamlet has added the capability to analyse 2K resolution digital cinema files to its VidScope and Reel-Check systems. The new functionality is being launched at NAB 2008 and will be immediately deliverable.

VidScope is a suite of PC-based tools that cover all the standard video and audio measurements, allowing up to six different displays to be shown on the same screen simultaneously, with real-time performance. ReelCheck adds the ability to perform complete quality control checks automatically in a file-based environment with full logged test reports that can be viewed, printed or emailed automatically.

“While Reel-Check is proving extremely popular in broadcast quality control environments and VidScope is finding applications across a broad range of engineering applications, we are aware that the high-end post production industry is moving rapidly to a format independent, file-based world, where they might be working on a standard definition project at one moment, a big budget movie the next,” said Steve Nunney, director of Hamlet. “By adding 2K capabilities – and we will be extending it to 4K soon – then they too can enjoy the benefits of accurate, flexible and cost-effective quality assurance with VidScope and Reel-Check.”

VidScope and Reel-Check are supplied by Hamlet as software to run on standard Windows XP or Vista platforms. A quad core PC with suitable graphics card will ensure real-time performance in HD and 2K resolutions.
